SINKS

The Number of Basins

The right number of basins for your sink depends on how you plan to use it. Typically, two basins are used in kitchen sinks, while one is used for bathrooms.

If you’ll only need to use a sink for one thing at a time or want a larger bowl, go with one basin. Dual basins are useful for washing dishes or using your sink for multiple purposes at once.

If you opt for a double basin, you can choose two basins of equal size or one that is slightly larger than the other.

The Shape

Farmhouse sinks, one popular style, are rectangular with an apron front. These sinks are often a few inches from the edge of the countertop, which makes them more easily accessible. They also have a classic, rustic feel.

Sinks with curved edges are a common choice for modern homes. They have a sleek, contemporary look that fits well with the styles of many kitchens and bathrooms.

 The Material

Sinks can be made of the same materials as countertops including granite, quartzite and marble. You can also opt for stainless steel or porcelain. Stainless steel sinks are easy to clean but can scratch easily. Porcelain sinks come in a wide variety of colors and styles. They do, however, easily chip.
